A Message From Pastor John
“I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”
Beloved in Christ Jesus;
Starting the new year right is critical to having a year that is productive and progressive and positive and most important, pleasing to God! So, what is your desire for the new year?
This week, I’m asking you to do three things:
- Take an inventory of where you fell short last year.
- Don’t dwell on your shortcomings or successes of last year.
- Commit to pursuit this year of the Goal Christ has set for you.
You see, it’s only in exacting an inventory that you will come face to face with the Man or Woman in the mirror. In the Apostle Paul’s desire, zeal and passion to win Christ, gain Christ, and know Christ, he is forced to take a hard look at himself; something that is never easy.
But, in his desire to become more like Christ, he is compelled to assess where he is in his Christian walk, measure his Christian growth, and his spiritual assessment revealed 4 things.
The first thing was he wasn’t where he needed to be yet; The second was he needed to forget about what he didn’t get done! Third, he was now reaching forward now, to what’s ahead in Jesus; And the last thing was that he was now going to “PRESS” toward the mark (The Goal) of winning Christ!
I want to encourage each of us this new year to PRESS in our relationship with Jesus! Pressing requires focus, determination and discipline. But, we can do “All Things” through Christ! If we PRESS, we will win the Eternal Prize!
God Bless Each of You!
